20th Year Class Reunion Final Details

PDF of the Final Details

Dear Cornell '91 classmate:

Thank you for registering for Reunion. Here are some details you may find helpful for your return trip to Ithaca.

  1. Upon arrival, go to the registration desk at the '91 class headquarters in Mary Donlon Hall. There you will receive your Reunion button (your admission 'ticket' to all events), Reunion information, keys to your dorm room (if you are staying on campus), and other assorted items.

  2. Unloading and parking: There will be limited short term parking immediately adjacent to Mary Donlon Hall headquarters, but we request that you move your vehicle to the larger "CC" lot adjacent to High Rise #1 on north campus right after you check in. Unlike at previous Reunions, we are no longer permitted to park on any grassy areas; you may be ticketed if you do so. Here is a link to the maps of campus so you can remember where everything is (and marvel at all the things that have changed):

  3. If you are staying on campus, you will receive your housing information and keys at class headquarters right after you check in with the class.

  4. Class headquarters is open from 7 am to midnight over the course of the weekend. If you arrive after the desk closes, and you are staying in the dorms, go directly to RPCC (Robert Purcell) lobby (Jessup Road entrance, facing the townhouses) to receive your housing information and keys; you should then check-in with our class at class headquarters the following morning. If you are staying off campus and you arrive after the registration desk closes, just check in at class headquarters the next morning.

  5. In an effort to be more 'green', the University no longer publishes the lengthy Reunion programs. Instead, upon arrival, you will receive the Reunion 'K-fold brochure' that contains the university schedule. The K-fold card fits in your pocket, but lacks detail and descriptions of each event. Therefore we strongly recommend you review the online weekend schedule of events before you arrive, to help you figure out how to best plan your weekend.

The online schedule also allows for you to create your own personalized Reunion weekend itinerary, save the events that interest you and easily download your own Reunion itinerary to your email or smartphone.

Reviewing the Reunion schedule ahead of time will help you plan your weekend prior to arrival, so that you don't spend valuable weekend time sorting through the many options for activities and events.

  6. We strongly recommend pre-registration for certain athletic events/activities that you might be interested in, (and some require pre-registration, see below). Note that simply adding them to your personalized itinerary (see above) does not pre-register you for the events. Not only will preregistration guarantee you a spot for these events, but you will also pay less than if you pay on-site.

    The following events require registration/payment:
    • *Hemlock Gorge Zipline (far end of Beebe Lake)
    • Lindseth Climbing Wall
    • Horseback Riding Lessons
    • Canoeing
    • Hoffman Challenge Course (pre-registration REQUIRED)
    • Reunion Run (pre-registration REQUIRED to receive t-shirt)
    • Golf Tournament (pre-registration REQUIRED)
Here is the link to register for these activities (bottom section):

    http://online.aad.cornell.edu/content/reunion/

*Please note: if you want to do the Zipline across the Beebe Gorge, we STRONGLY recommend you pre-register for this right now. This new Reunion activity was immensely popular last year, and most that did not pre-register were unable to participate.

  7. Casual clothing is fine for all events during the entire weekend. The weather can be quite warm (last year for Reunion, the temperatures were in the '90's), or quite chilly (anyone recall the less-than-ideal weather at out 15th?). Obviously, check the Ithaca forecast before you leave home.

  8. Free wi-fi is available in the dorms and throughout many areas of campus. If you plan to connect to it, you will need to have an active Cornell Net ID and password. We recommend you set this up prior to your arrival in Ithaca:

    http://www.alumni.cornell.edu/services/netid.cfm

  9. For those planning to bring children and stay in the dorms, if you did not reserve a bed for them, remember to bring a portable crib/sleeping bag/blankets/pillows as needed.

  10. Additional things you may want to bring with you to Ithaca:
    • Umbrella (in case it begins to Ithacate)
    • Bathing suit (especially for those going to the creeks/lake/state parks ... or even the oncampus indoor pools)
    • Beach towels
    • Sunscreen
    • Bug repellant
    • Piano music: We have a grand piano in the lobby of Donlon. If you or anyone else in your party (including your children) knows how to play piano, we welcome you to use the piano during the weekend.
    • If staying in dorms: hairdryer, bathrobe/cover-up, portable fan (if it's going to be warm)

Want to know which long-lost friends are coming back for Reunion? Check out the list at:

Do you know classmates who are still not sure if they want to come to Reunion? It's never too late to register (or even just show up … housing is guaranteed for all!). If there are people you would like to contact but do not know how to reach them we can help you. Just let us know. We look forward to seeing you later this week. Have a safe trip back to Ithaca.
